It brightens up the room, optically enlarges the space and fits neatly into our interior ideas. A light floor can really do a lot! We can confidently invite it even into heavily used interiors.

A light floor is extremely versatile. It can add light and space to smaller interiors and help make larger ones feel lighter and cosier. When we appropriately match the shade of the floor to the colour of the walls, doors, skirting boards and furniture finishing, we can easily create an arrangement full of harmony, avoiding boredom.

How to do it? Which materials are best for the living room or bedroom, and which for the hallway? Here are some useful tips to enjoy a striking light floor in any interior.

A bright floor in a living room that's buzzing with life

The living room is a room with a lot going on all the time. A light shade of flooring is far more effective than a dark shade in disguising fine scratches or minor damage that occurs on a daily basis. What's more, natural wear and tear can add character to the interior.

If it is durability that you are looking for, the living room floor can also be laid with light-coloured laminate in a suitable wear class - preferably AC4 or AC5. Laminate flooring in a warm, sandy shade or in a universal whitewashed oak will become a subtle complement to our living room ideas. Light shades will fit neatly into classic white and allow for the introduction of more striking contrasts, becoming a graceful backdrop for enlivening colours in the space.

The colour of the floor can also be matched to the finish of the furniture - especially if we want to emphasise and highlight certain elements of our arrangement. If the original Ribbon bookcases are set against a dark wall and combined with a light oak floor, their sculptural form will be an eye-catcher, while at the same time creating a harmonious whole in the interior.

For a light-coloured living room floor, it is easy to choose matching skirting boards. Depending on the colour of the boards or panels, we can choose classic white skirting boards or finish the floor with elements in a similar shade of light grey. In the living room, skirting boards with a special compartment to hide cables and wires will be particularly useful. This way, they won't stand out against the light-coloured boards or panels.

A bedroom full of light

A light shade of flooring will also help to emphasise the relaxing atmosphere of the bedroom. Particularly suitable for small spaces, it will brighten and lighten the room, helping to create a calming and peaceful atmosphere.

The floor in the bedroom does not wear out as quickly as in the living room, so we can confidently invite the natural charm of wood into the bedroom. Especially the light Querra oak floors, which allow the use of underfloor heating, will effectively emphasise the warm character of a cosy, intimate interior.

To emphasise the atmosphere of the room even more, match the colour of the bedroom floor with light-coloured doors. Combined with a neutral wall colour in beige or white, this creates a harmonious trio. If the bedroom décor is too monotonous, use colourful decorations and houseplants to break it up. The luscious green of the leaves will perfectly complement the natural shades of wood, enliven the interior and create an atmosphere conducive to relaxation and tranquillity.

If you are furnishing a bedroom for a child of several years or a room for a teenager, you may want to think about slightly more robust solutions. This is where you'll find the hard-wearing Rigio floors, which, thanks to their tough mineral fibre core, can take a lot. The youngest inhabitants can easily play toy races, bounce a ball or put up stickers. If you want to install the children's room in a room right above the living room or the neighbours' bedroom, you can also consider a light-coloured vinyl floor. It will also effectively muffle the sound of footsteps, especially when paired with the right underlay.

Heel resistant light floor in the hallway

A light-coloured floor will also help to make a narrow hallway where natural light doesn't penetrate. With the addition of light-fronted furniture, the space will appear more spacious and welcoming - just in time to make the hallway the showpiece of the entire home.

In a multifunctional and heavily used hallway, opt for the most durable solutions. Vinyl is the material of choice for the entrance area: it has enhanced resistance to moisture and has a durable surface that is easy to clean. Heels, skateboard wheels and dog's claws are also not so threatening. However, if you opt for vinyl, remember to vacuum or sweep up sand particles regularly.

In open-plan interiors, where the hallway flows seamlessly into the living room and dining room, for example, wear-resistant light-coloured laminate flooring will also work well. They are especially useful when we want to finish the floor in a multifunctional space in the same way, without separating individual zones. However, it should be remembered that a little more time and attention will be required to maintain the laminate flooring than with vinyl.

If we want to combine different materials in a multifunctional interior, it is necessary to take into account the differences in their thickness - after all, vinyl panels will be much thinner than wooden planks. In order to properly adjust the floor finish, it is best to use the support of specialists. In VOX stores, experts will help to select bright floors for various interiors and suggest solutions that will work best to realise our ideas.
