Metamorphosing a flat requires a plan and courage. Izabella found this out when she and her husband bought a flat in an old tenement building. She decided to design the entire space herself, matching the right furniture and accessories to the atmospheric interior. The VOXBOX programme helped her to achieve the arrangement of her dreams.

Peeling off layers of wallpaper, painting the walls or oiling the floor - as it turned out, these can be great ways to actively spend time with friends. Before the renovation work began in earnest, however, Iza made a detailed design of her flat. This was made possible by the VOXBOX app, where she was able to test various ideas.

Iza works at VOX on a daily basis, so she knew perfectly well that the products in our offer would fit into the specific space of the tenement house. The white milled skirting boards emphasised the character of the over 100-year-old floor, the light-coloured furniture blended perfectly with the tenement interior, and the thoughtful accessories complemented the vintage style.

Functional furniture in a flat with history

Ample space, high ceilings and original door fittings - this is what captivated our protagonist about a flat in an old tenement house, which soon underwent a successful metamorphosis. The classic wooden floor also created a unique atmosphere. This timeless base needed only the right furniture to serve it well for years to come.

Choosing furniture that would fit into the unique space and emphasise the natural features of the room was no small challenge. The interior design had to reflect the character of its occupants without losing the spirit of the old building. In this respect, Iza decided to stay true to her favourite colour palette, in which she feels at home. She opted for light, neutral colours.

It was clear right from the start of the flat's metamorphosis that a bookcase would be an important part of it. After waiting a long time for a custom-made piece of furniture, Izabella decided to use the Creative system to design her dream bookcase herself. Its upper part was to offer ample space for books and her favourite trinkets, while the lower part was to hide all the things she didn't want to share with guests. After combining five bookcases in the Creative system, a piece of furniture was created that perfectly meets these needs.

"I configured the Creative bookcases in the VOXBOX interior design software, so I could decide on the layout of the shelves and the section to be open and closed. I also saw what the space would ultimately look like. In addition to the bookcase, I also needed storage space, so I created a chest of drawers in the Creative system, which I placed in the living room. The three-door fully closed, handleless piece of furniture is the perfect place for favourite trinkets and glasses," says Iza.

The most important piece of furniture in the townhouse flat, however, turned out to be the round table from the Simple collection, at which the household members can dine comfortably or even work. Although the table top can be folded into a compact round shape, the hosts' favourite form is the unfolded, oval one. The large table works well for numerous parties, providing comfort for invited guests.

Metamorphosis of a townhouse flat - the role of accessories

Carrying out the metamorphosis of the flat on her own brought great satisfaction to Iza. In order to make the interior particularly pleasant to be in, our protagonist also took care of the details. She decorated the top of the chest of drawers and the open part of the bookcase with decorative vessels made of natural materials. A vase of tinted glass looks aesthetically pleasing against the light wall, as does a stoneware vase in an interesting organic shape.

When carrying out a metamorphosis of an old flat in a townhouse, one cannot forget about the lighting, which plays a key role in the prevailing atmosphere. In addition to the ceiling light sources, Iza used lamps with a bright lampshade and a glass base. The warm, diffused light lends cosiness to the entire interior. Soy candles placed in colour-matched candle holders also contribute to the intimate atmosphere.

The aesthetic space is not lacking in functionality. Openwork organisers provide convenient storage for office accessories, from documents to pens. The metal containers can be freely moved to the desired location, allowing our heroine to arrange her home office in any part of the flat.

When selecting accessories, Izabella discovered the minimalist Handy table in her favourite colour. The handy handle means she can take it with her to the balcony on warm days. The outdoor space has also been functionally designed. Thanks to the comfortable Sand cushions and soft poufs, the hosts can spend long hours on the balcony, working or enjoying their favourite snacks on stoneware plates. The homely atmosphere is enhanced by the hand-woven carpet, which provides a pleasant massage for bare feet.
