Ideas for a cosy
arrangement living room design in a detached house
The living room in a detached house can serve many functions. Most often, it is combined with a dining area and a workspace to make the most of the available space. How can we design this room to be fully functional and at the same time a cosy oasis for relaxation? Ania and Michal, a couple for whom the living room is the centre of their life together, know this.
The bright, spacious room with its interesting layout encouraged our protagonists to divide it into several zones. Using the free VOXBOX programme, they created the interior design almost from scratch, choosing the floors, skirting boards and wall finishes. They then selected the furnishings along with the necessary accessories and decorations.
Designing a living room in a house - let's start with choosing the floor and wall finish.
The living room in a single-family home, which is used for both relaxing, receiving guests and working, is worth dividing into zones that will facilitate daily functioning. We can do this with furniture or with the right wall finish. In the living room belonging to Michał and Ania, the relaxation corner is highlighted by Linerio Natural slats. The wooden colour and spatial structure gave the interior a cosy feel. The rest of the walls were painted in a warm beige colour, forming a harmonious duo with the floor, which was covered with a natural oak plank.
A white skirting board from the Evera collection, characterised by very simple installation and a perfectly smooth surface, completed the gentle base of the arrangement. The initial stage of designing the living room in Ania and Michal's home was completed with the choice of doors. The simple Noma door leaf, painted white with ecological acrylic paint, created a harmonious set with the skirting board, leaving the choice of furniture and accessories free.
Living room at home - how to create a space conducive to relaxation?
Whether a room is conducive to relaxation is largely determined by the colours present. The living room of our protagonists is filled with muted colours, not only on the walls and floor, but also in the form of furniture. Natural carpets also create a soothing atmosphere, calming the room and providing bare feet with pleasant tactile stimuli.
Cosy decorations not only appear on the floor, but also on the semi-open RTV cabinet. We finished the cabinet fronts with leather handles, which added even more warmth to the interior. The Creative system allowed us to freely personalise the look of the furniture.
The couple wanted to make their living room a space that would also accommodate their third member of the family, Alex the dog, who loves to lie on the sofa. The Chill upholstered furniture with removable covers that can be washed at any time was a perfect choice. The soft modular seats can change their location. If necessary, they can be used to create a large sofa for the family and invited guests, while on a day-to-day basis they can be used as separate relaxation areas for each member of the household. The Banco swivel armchair, located by the window, also provides a comfortable place to relax. Its slender metal base introduced an interesting accent to the living room arrangement, while the light fabric on the quilted seat and backrest added texture to complete the sensual mix. Right next to it were the round coffee tables configured in the Creative system (high and low), which remain tucked one under the other on a daily basis, so they do not take up much space.
The living room could not miss a work area either, which featured a desk with practical accessories. Michael, who carries out his professional duties from home, needed a separate work surface and a small pedestal where he can store documents.
Designing a home living room with a dining room ready for loved ones to visit
The dining room at home often becomes the place for long conversations or long feasts - especially if, like Anne and Michael, you have a large circle of friends. Our protagonists' flat could not therefore be without a folding table, which, if necessary, can provide comfortable space for up to 10 people.
At the table top, there are chairs from various collections that meet the needs of both household members. Michael fell in love with the Shell chairs on metal frames, while Ania chose for herself the Uni chair with soft seat and beech back. The variety of seating brings a homely atmosphere to the living room, emphasising the occupants' individual characters.
When designing the dining area, they decided to use more expressive colours than in the lounge area. In the alcove, a semi-open Creative bookcase in bottle green was ideally suited to hold favourite books and family heirlooms. The lockable space provided the homeowners with additional storage and organisation space for items they do not want on display.
The ability to personalise the furniture made it possible to decide not only on the layout of the shelves and cabinets, but also to choose high, slender legs that make it easier to keep the home clean. The cleaning robot will therefore have no problem picking up Alex's hair. The oak-coloured legs form a harmonious duo with the simple handles and blend beautifully with the wooden floor. Discreet details allowed the green of the bookcase to play first fiddle, which is a strong accent against the beige wall.
Plan the design of your living room at home with the VOXBOX programme
If you want to arrange a comfortable and fully functional living room, tailored to the needs of all household members, it is worth planning its layout in the appropriate programme. VOXBOX enables you to design it yourself and realise your boldest ideas. Experimenting with the shade of the floor and door joinery, adjusting the arrangement of furniture to the size of the interior and finally the choice of lighting - all this can give you a lot of pleasure. By creating a visualisation of the dream interior, we will also make sure that the choices we make are right, comments VOX stylist Natalia Całus.
When looking for an idea for the arrangement of a living room, it is worth looking into the library of ready-made designs, where we can find, among others, a modern living room with a dining room of 22 m2. We can also arrange a meeting with an advisor in one of the VOX stores and together choose wall panels, furniture or ornaments, which will help us create the design of our dreams.
