How to decorate
the interior of a holiday home in tune with nature
A holiday home is the dream of many people, especially those who spend long hours every day in tall office buildings or apartment blocks. Such a place is the perfect break from everyday life - a space where we can enjoy nature and simply relax. How do you decorate the interior of an allotment house? We have prepared a lot of practical advice.
How do you furnish a summerhouse? A good plan is essential
When planning the layout of your summerhouse, consider how often you intend to use it and what your favourite leisure activities are. Consider where you will store necessary equipment and tools and how you will keep things tidy. Think about what you have room for and what amenities you can do without. Above all, it is worth taking a practical approach.
If you have just bought the holiday home of your dreams, start with a comprehensive check of its technical condition and make a list of the work to be done. Depending on the amount of work involved, you may be faced with a major renovation or a minor facelift. The first step is to assess the condition of the electrical system, floors and walls. Also look at the condition of the facade, roof and guttering, as well as the tightness of all windows and doors. It is a good idea to carry out major renovation work straight away, before bringing in furniture and personal items.

When the condition of the cottage has been checked, it is time to designate the different areas in it - for relaxing, preparing meals, sleeping or working. Consider where you will be alone and where you will place your invited guests. The answers to these questions will help you to use the available space effectively. Make it comfortable, but keep the number of objects to a minimum. Otherwise, we can easily clutter up a small cottage.
An important factor when it comes to the question of how to furnish a summerhouse is also our budget and expectations. Bear in mind that you will need different items of equipment if you only want to use the summerhouse in your family allotment for a few months of the year, and others if you intend to visit your year-round cottage outside the city also in winter.
How do we decorate the interior of the allotment house? Choosing furniture
Once we have designated specific zones in the interior of the allotment house, it is time to match the furniture. It is good if they both meet our needs and express our taste. When space is tight, it is better to opt for models that combine more than one function.
When arranging a kitchenette, choose smart and practical furniture. Lockable cabinets are better than glass showcases to hide any potential clutter. Make the most of the potential of the walls. Hanging shelves and cabinets, such as Nature, will save floor space and add interest to the space.
How do you create a dining area in a cottage? At its heart is the Creative folding table. Not only can you design it exactly the way you want it, but you can also bring it outside when you want to have a party under a cloud. If we place it close to the kitchen annex, it will serve as an additional worktop, and when supplemented with a comfortable chair, it will serve as a desk. When choosing seats, it is best to bet on timeless models that are easy to keep clean, such as the Simple wooden chairs.
A small sofa bed should be placed in the seating area to allow you to sleep comfortably when needed. The Doppio upholstered pouffes will also prove useful for everyday use. Fitted with a practical storage compartment, they will provide additional space for small items and, thanks to their double-sided age, can be used as a seat or a table.
If we are able to create a separate bedroom in the interior of our allotment house, it is worth choosing a bed with a storage compartment to hold textiles. Instead of a classic bedside table, we can place a low chest of drawers with a mobile pedestal on wheels. The wide drawer can be pulled out completely and placed in the desired part of the cottage, providing convenient access to the items organised in it.
In a larger summerhouse, it is also worth saving room for an extra bed. A narrow model with a drawer for bedding or a lower bed is ideal for when you have guests. If you also want to store clothes, toys or books in the cottage, so that they can wait patiently for our arrival, do not forget to buy a narrow wardrobe or a bookcase. A model on high legs will do well, which will be light in appearance and will not dominate the small space, while also making vacuuming easier.
In search of sun or shade - choosing lightweight, portable furniture
Staying on an allotment is the perfect opportunity to relax outdoors. We don't need a large veranda or terrace for this. All you need is some lightweight furniture, which goes with you wherever you feel like going. When the summer is over, it can be stowed away inside the house, where it will continue to impress with its functionality.
Looz pouffes and armchairs upholstered with weather-resistant fabric will allow you to relax carefree in the garden or on the terrace. They owe their extraordinary softness and lightness to the filling made of hypoallergenic granulate. For a set of wide seats, it is worth buying Sand cushions with carrying handles. Stain-resistant and soft, they will look great on the grass during a picnic, matching the colour palette of nature.
The freedom to relax outdoors will also be ensured by the Handy portable table. The practical handle will allow you to take it with you to any part of the garden, and the two tops will accommodate both coffee cups and a plate of cakes. The durable piece of furniture has special holes that will remove excess water from the raised trays in the event of rain.
How do you arrange a space right next to the summerhouse? The ideal place for healthy snacks and drinks will be the weatherproof Mundi tables, which will serve us inside after the season. They feel just as good in pairs as they do alone. The option of personalisation allows you to tailor their appearance to your own tastes. Simply place a solid bench with oak décor right next to it to accommodate several people.
Relaxation in a good setting - buying accessories for the allotment house
The design of the allotment house should promote relaxation and tranquillity. This can be achieved with items made from natural materials, which are best suited to the atmosphere of an oasis in nature. The little things are enough to create a cosy atmosphere - such as theBloom wall decoration with dried plants or the small Orb ornaments made of jute rope, which add variety to a bookcase.
When decorating the summerhouse, don't forget about soft textiles. Linen cushions will allow you to lean back comfortably or take a nap, and warm blankets will provide thermal comfort on cooler evenings and mornings. A good choice would be pieces in neutral colours that are gentle on the eyes, such as the grey wool-based Muff rug. If you have a four-legged friend, think about their comfort too and give them a sturdy Momo bed.
It is also worth taking care of the aesthetic setting of meals. Start with a cotton table runner to protect the table top from dirt. Then select colourful ceramics to liven up the allotment house interior. Feri bowls, cups and plates are a great choice. They can be combined with the tableware from the Rimme collection to create a colourful composition.
A decanter and glasses made of clear glass in which to serve lemonade should not be missing from the summerhouse either. A handy tea pot will also come in handy in autumn. To serve meals efficiently, you will also need a tray. Look out for lightweight models made of natural rattan, such as Rata or Rato.
Cottage on a plot of land - good lighting inside and out
The right lighting will add to the atmospheric ambience of evenings at the summerhouse. A battery-operated string of Happy Lights will help to create a magical atmosphere, which is suitable both inside and outside. The portable Solar light is also an interesting solution - once charged, it can be taken with you to every corner of the house and garden. Several lighting modes will allow us to adjust the degree of light intensity to the needs of the moment.
And let's not forget the power of the candles. Their dancing flames will create a unique atmosphere for long conversations and moments of intimacy. Scented Lento or Presto candles based on natural soy wax will soothe all the senses. The Fano and Atil bamboo lantern heaters will help to create a romantic atmosphere.
