Home library we make our own temple of silence
Silence interrupted only by the rustling of pages, the sun streaming into the house through a cracked window and a comfortable armchair in which to sink for hours.... There is something magical about moments spent reading, just like a bookcase full of books at home.
Every bookworm knows that once a collection is started, it doesn't stop growing for a long time. Keeping a home library in check is no mean feat. After all, bookcases full of paper-smelling volumes in various colours and sizes create a specific atmosphere in the interior that is difficult to describe. We still want to have more and more of them.
Although many of us would most happily build a wall of books in every room, the space of our houses and flats has its limitations. How can we arrange a comfortable home library that not only fits into the possibilities of our interiors, but above all becomes a coveted reading retreat?
A BOOKCASE IN THE LIVING ROOM OR HALLWAY
When creating our home library, let's focus on maximum comfort and easy access - so that we can easily immerse ourselves in reading at any free moment. The key to our little escape will be a large bookcase, where we can quickly find our favourite book, and a comfortable armchair, placed close to a light source.
You can create your private reading room in the living room or living room with dining area. A wide 4 You double-sided bookcase will come in handy - when placed perpendicular to the wall, it will clearly separate the home library from the rest of the room. In this way, our collection of books will become a striking decoration of the living room, saying a lot about ourselves: our sensibilities and interests. A soft, patterned carpet, a comfortable armchair or a pouffe, an upholstered footstool and a standing lamp will also make a great addition to such a separate corner. It is good to use natural light for reading, so it would be a good idea to arrange our reading asylum right by the window.
Arranging a home library is also a way to make use of the space in the hallway. Depending on the space available, we can place the books on a post made of modular boxes or a slightly wider glass display case, which will protect our collection from dust.
FURNITURE FOR BIG AND SMALL READERS
It is not only adults who love the rustling of pages. Even the youngest of children enjoy the colourful stories in the little books. Reading - first with the help of their parents, then on their own - influences their development and shapes their personality.
It is worth following the advice of Maria Montessori, the founder of Montessori pedagogy, who claimed thatall objects that could interest children should be within their sight. It is therefore a good idea to place their first books at a low level - for example on a Tula bookcase adapted to the height of the little ones, which, apart from books, can also accommodate their favourite toys.
It is also a good idea to keep in mind the right positioning when space is limited and you want to set aside a place for your child's books in the parents' living room or bedroom. Your children's favourite titles should be stored on the lowest shelves. When they are a little older, the books can be stored in decorative boxes or organisers that slide under the bookcase.
HOW TO ARRANGE BOOKS IN A HOME BOOKCASE?
Instead of the classic arrangement of books - vertically, side by side - on our bookcases, we might as well spread out an engaging play of shapes and colours. Let's arrange them vertically and horizontally, here and there breaking the rhythm with additional decoration: a photo frame, a plant in a pot or a decorative figurine.
For more extensive book collections, there is room on the high and extremely capacious Simple bookcases. We can easily change the layout and height of their shelves to suit the positioning of our books - whether we arrange them by theme, size or spine colour. With wide and narrow bookcases, we can create impressive walls of books.
OFFLINE SPACE
Nowadays, we can rarely afford a separate room filled with books from floor to ceiling. Fortunately, there is no shortage of solutions that help to cleverly weave the reading passion into the daily rhythm of the day and fit the shape of our collection into the available space.
A home bookcase is a living organism - it changes with us over time. When arranging the space around it, let's try to create a cosy and quiet place where we can be alone with the paper. Those moments when we finally go offline for a while, forget about the fast-paced world and immerse ourselves in reading, will then become even more precious.
