Arranging a bedsit involves creative and clever solutions. Thanks to them, we have a chance to arrange a functional flat, which meets all the needs of the future tenant despite its small size. Below, we present a modern design of a studio apartment, which is worth being inspired by.

Many people start their independent life in a small flat in a block of flats. It was no different in the case of our client, who approached the VOX designer with a request to arrange her first own four corners. The young woman plans to live in a bedsit for a few years and then move to a larger apartment. The expert was therefore faced with the task of creating a universal design for the studio, which would appeal to both the owner and future tenants.

The VOX designer prepared a realistic visualisation using the free VOXBOX application - available to anyone who would like to test different room design ideas. The programme is easy to use, making it easy to take on the role of interior designer. For specialist support, simply visit your nearest VOX showroom and take advantage of the free advisor's assistance.

When looking for an idea for a studio, it is worth looking at the ready-made design. It has been prepared using products from our comprehensive offer - floors, mouldings, doors, wall panels, furniture, lamps or decorations.

TAILOR-MADE DESIGN FOR A BEDSIT

Reconciling all the necessary functions in a small space is a real art of compromise. The task turns out to be even more difficult if we want to design a studio, which in a few years will be on the rental market and will become a home for a complete stranger. In such a situation, it is worth testing various solutions and discussing them in depth until the best one emerges. The VOXBOX programme allowed the designer to present a variety of furniture configurations and finishing options to the future tenant. Together, they decided which would best suit the layout of the studio and the owner's expectations.

"The first home for a young person is a kind of symbol of entering adulthood. Being in one's own space, although often small, should bring us joy and fill us with peace of mind. Our design priority was therefore to listen carefully to the client's needs. We placed great emphasis on ensuring her daily comfort. Living in a well-appointed studio apartment can be comfortable, and the space is not only functional, but also visually appealing," comments the VOX designer.

To create the design, we were given a 30m2 flat with large balcony windows. In order to maximise the potential of this space, we dispensed with partition walls and decided to visually separate the individual zones by painting the walls in different colours.

A light vinyl floor in the shade of autumn oak helped to optically enlarge the studio. The five-layered panels are sound-absorbent and water-resistant. This meant that they could also be installed in the kitchen and bathroom without any problems. The designer also took care of the floor finish. The damp-proof and impact-resistant skirting boards from the Espumo series have proved their worth throughout the flat.

FURNISHING A ONE-ROOM STUDIO - FURNITURE FOR SPECIAL TASKS

A one-room studio fulfils many roles. In the evenings it becomes a place to sleep and during the day it turns into a space for work or study. The flat also needs to include an area for cooking, eating comfortably and spending time with friends. To ensure the occupant's everyday comfort, we made maximum use of every square metre of space.

In the hallway , a personalised wardrobe with an extension has found its place. The designer configured the interior of the 4-door wardrobe so that it could accommodate not only outer garments, but also everyday wardrobe items. The white colour of the body and doors additionally made the wardrobe create a unified whole with the walls and optically enlarge the small corridor. The wardrobe is placed on high legs, which makes it look light and graceful, despite its considerable size.

In the living area, there is a sofa bed with dark upholstery - when folded, it takes up much less space than a classic bed and works as a comfortable sofa. The simple, traditional shape will easily fit into many arrangements, which may prove important when the flat changes occupants. Next to the sofa is a rectangular coffee table with handy recesses for storing small items.

As an alternative to the massive chest of drawers, the RTV cabinets were designed in the Creative system. Low and wide, they tastefully finish the wall with the TV. Capacious shelves will serve to store linen and bedding, as well as tableware and books. The upholstered Banco swivel armchair has found its place right next to it, perfect for an afternoon of relaxation with your favourite read.

At the request of the owner of the studio, the dining area included a Simple folding table, which will play several roles. It will be useful for dining, remote working and studying. The small tabletop will take up little space on a day-to-day basis, but when extended to its maximum capacity it will seat up to eight people. This allows our heroine to confidently organise social gatherings.

The arrangement of the studio is completed with chairs in energetic yellow. Thanks to their upholstered seats, even long hours of sitting at the table will be comfortable. On the wall next to it was a comfortable kitchenette kept in a uniform colour scheme. The grey kitchen cabinets fitted seamlessly into the décor and provided plenty of storage space for utensils, dishes and food.

"Complementing the furnishings were hanging shelves in an apricot shade. For the most part, we used open models, which bring lightness to the arrangement and provide plenty of space to display favourite items. In a small flat, the place for storage is often the walls. In the case of our studio project, the colourful shelves also decorate the interior," explains the VOX designer.

HOW TO FIND AN IDEA FOR A STUDIO? THE ROLE OF ACCESSORIES

Creating a design for a bedsit involves many difficult choices. After all, we have to accommodate all our lives in a small flat, so a large number of items with no practical function could only get in the way and visually overwhelm the space. In addition, such a room would be much more difficult to keep tidy.

So how do you add character to a bedsit? In order not to take up any usable space, the walls can be used to introduce decoration. The designer decided to use modern graphics in black frames. These gave the spaces behind the sofa and above the TV cabinets an interesting look.

The lighting above the table and the sofa has also become a decoration. Ball lamps are distinguished by their original shape and strong colours. When hung in a group, they also catch the eye when not performing their practical function.

Textiles also played an important role in the idea of decorating the bedsit. Patterned cushions will prove indispensable when friends drop by. Simply place them on the panels next to the coffee table for comfortable seating while playing board games. The cotton zipped pillowcases are pleasant to the touch and easy to keep clean.
