Yellow is one of the most expressive colours we can invite into our homes. It is eye-catching and radiates energy, but its expressive nature often makes it a challenge to incorporate into interiors. Which shades of yellow work best in our interior design?

Yellow walls, living room accessories and small decorations are a proven way to brighten up a room and add warmth and energy. The sunny colour almost always makes a strong, vibrant statement. It adds vibrancy to arrangements based on neutral whites and greys or helps to bring even more depth to chic browns or dreamy blues.

However, it is important to tame the intensity of yellow so that the effect does not turn out to be too tiring. We can choose subtler shades with a touch of white or brown, or opt for individual elements that will stand out in our interiors. Here are some inspirations.

WHAT COLOURS GO WITH YELLOW?

Yellow has always been present in our homes - once favoured as a wall colour, today it is more prevalent in the form of contrasting details. It is an exceptionally warm and cheerful colour, which is associated with sunshine and good energy. However, we should be careful with the intense shade of yellow and use it in moderation. Too much or too strong a tone can overwhelm us and discourage us from spending time in the room. What colours should we combine it with to create a harmonious composition in our interiors?

All shades of yellow will undoubtedly get along well with basic colours such as white, black and grey. In monochrome arrangements, they will introduce a touch of madness and enliven a subdued décor. They are particularly suitable for modern and minimalist designs.

But basic colours are not everything! Warm tones of yellow will complement wood, deep green, brown, pastel blue or even dirty pink.

YELLOW ON THE WALLS - WHICH SHADES TO CHOOSE?

Warming yellow is a good choice to finish one of the walls in interiors that we want to give more energy. It can be used, for example, in a living room bathed in sunshine or to emphasise the teenage temperament of a youthful room-dweller. However, try to choose a shade that is not too bright - so that the yellow does not completely dominate a cosy space.

Two palettes work best here. In rooms where we want to give a gentle and friendly tone, let's rely on soft or lightened shades of yellow - the most universal and calm ones. We can reach for paints in pastel, wheat or almond colours. A little more character will be added by darker variants, passing into fiery orange or elegant brown - such as the trendy mustard colour, warm ochre or ochre. The former are best suited to the children's room or bedroom, where they are useful for creating cheerful and light arrangements. On the other hand, a dark, earthy yellow is the perfect choice for an elegant living room or for rooms where you want to create a home jungle full of plants. The walls can then be decorated in old gold, honey or amber.

Both options are sure to go well with natural, wooden accents. Surrounded by yellow, Nature oak furniture or simple pieces of Simple furniture, for which we can choose bodies and fronts in a warm shade of wood.

If you are not afraid of intense colours and want to immerse your entire interior in yellow, opt for Bahama Yellow, a banana, canary or lemon shade.

YELLOW IS LIKE A MAGNET. USE IT!

In home interiors, yellow always draws attention to itself. It can therefore help us to emphasise the character of specific rooms. Simply use the energising colour to highlight the most important furniture and design elements.

Upholstered furniture is a good example. For each armchair or sofa from the VOX collection, we can choose one of the many shades of yellow. In this way we can make the soft lounge furniture the stars of the arrangement, inviting you to relax from the threshold. The sofas, corner sofas and armchairs from the Duvet collection, with their two rows of soft cushions and lightweight solid wood legs, will be particularly impressive in the warming yellow finish. The Milva and Stan armchairs also look good in this colour, mainly due to their contrasting black frames, which, together with the yellow upholstery, will help to bring modernity into the room in the most cheerful way.

The multifunctional Slide sofa can also become the heart of the living room. Thanks to the movable seats, it will find its perfect place especially in the open space of the living room combined with the dining room. With just one move, it can be transformed into a compact corner sofa or two independent seats with a shared backrest. Clad in yellow upholstery, the Slide sofa will help to create vibrant interiors that never stand still.

Yellow accents can also be introduced with the help of Concept furniture. We can match coloured fronts to each wardrobe, chest of drawers or pedestal. This is a clever solution, which will help with everyday organisation - in this way we will more easily remember that certain items have their permanent place in a yellow drawer, for example.

YELLOW ACCESSORIES FOR THE LIVING ROOM AND BEDROOM

If you don't want to finish the entire sofa in yellow, you can always throw the mustard Flanno blanket over it. It will blend neatly especially with upholstery in shades of dark green, navy blue and brown, adding depth and adorning the interior with a deep, colourful contrast. Additions such as yellow photo frames placed on the dresser can also become energising focal points in the living room landscape.

Yellow accessories are also easy to find in the bedroom. To keep the cosy interior neat and tidy, why not get a set of Hold boxes to help organise seasonal clothing, board games or other small items. In a teenager's room, it is worth choosing furniture from theYoung Users collection , which, thanks to a system of interchangeable covers, can be adjusted to the preferences of each teenager. Yellow fronts will not only brighten up the décor, but will also help to clearly mark which part of the cupboard belongs to which member of the household. If our bedroom is dominated by shades of grey, we can brighten it up with yellow Ribbia cushions. It's a simple way to add energy and cosiness to your décor - and the soft textiles will make both your evening relaxation and your morning wake-up call more enjoyable.

And let's not forget the plants. After all, their luscious greenery is just asking for a lively companion in the form of warm yellow shades. However, if you don't have a hand in caring for plants and prefer to decorate your interior with cut flowers or dried branches, you can also place a vase with a warm, mustard pattern in your bedroom, living room or hallway. This is the easiest way to ensure that the summer atmosphere does not leave our interiors all year round!
